Ode to the Spoon

Our faithful followers will notice a change in our blog this week – we hope you like our new look!

The great news is we can now post videos on our blog as well as pictures, so watch this space for footage of the workshop and glimpses of the silversmithing that goes on in it…

In preparation for our next show at West Dean College this weekend (click here for more info) we thought we’d kick things off with a video about the making of spoons. Used throughout the history of man by kings and paupers alike to consume everything from soup to desserts, the spoon is both essential and universal – why not make it beautiful as well?

Thanks to this spell of brighter, warmer weather, we at Studio 19 are dying to get out of the workshop and into the garden. What better excuse could there be than our forth-coming show at RHS Garden Wisley? The tulips are flourishing and we hope to join them, displaying our freshest designs in silver tableware, cookware and candlesticks.

Exploring the Table Culture of Europe

This month we spent a few days in Germany at the international Ambiente trade show, where manufacturers of dining and tableware come from all over the world to show their new designs. From kitchen trends to prestige dining, it’s all there – a veritable wonderland for anyone enthusiastic about pots, pans, utensils and cutlery.

2015 has well and truly dawned and we’ve decided to get the workshop off to a positive start by opening it up to you!
